U2 tot beste act van laatste kwarteeuw uitgeroepen

De Ierse rockgroep U2 is door de lezers van het Britse muziektijdschrift Q Magazine tot de beste act van de laatste 25 jaar uitgeroepen.

Op de jaarlijkse award-uitreiking, in het Londense Grosvenor House Hotel, mocht de groep de prijs in ontvangst nemen. Frontman Bono sprak op de rode loper alvast lovende woorden over Q Magazine. "Ze zijn zo belangrijk voor iedereen die all the way wil gaan met zijn muziek."

Zangeres Adele kreeg twee awards, voor beste zangeres en beste nummer ('Rolling In The Deep'). Coldplay werd tot beste act ter wereld van het moment verkozen.

Gary Barlow werd tot 'Q classic songwriter' uitgeroepen, Noel Gallagher (ex-Oasis) tot 'Q icon'.
